The Refuge Group (TRG) in collaboration with Greater Equatoria Region Association of Utah (GERA-UT) held a community event on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Poplar Grove Park. Walmart Foundation grant and contribution from members of GERA-UT generously funded the event.
The goal of the event was to improve quality of life, especially among elderly women in the Equatoria community of South Sudan living in the Salt Lake Valley. These elderly women found a rare opportunity to teach and mentor the young Equatorian ladies who don’t know how to cook some of the best traditional dishes available in South Sudan. Over 250 people attended the community event. Check out the event video.
